CSM Elections
EVE is a wonderful world, someone is building for us, players, but when we get in this world, our nature, and our expectations will change it, the community of this new world will make the final strokes, and finish the picture, and we are responsible for our game as much, as the developers, who build the frame for it.

I am the active CSM 4 member, trying to make our alter world a better place to live, and I hope I will accomplish my goal with a help of EVE players supporting me.
Here is what I stand for:
Do no harm
CSM membership for me is not only the power to deliver issues and opinion to CCP developer team, but to foresee the consequences the changes can bring for me, as a player, and for game in general. So the first rule for me is “Do no harm”. With a big game experience I have, I can put myself in situations the player can get with the change we bring, and get the whole picture from the different degrees.
Balance approach:
There should be no useless players.
The best thing in EVE I had noticed, when I joined this game was a very good role system, where any player could give something to the other players he plays with. No matter how old is his character or what faction and specialization he had chosen, he is a valuable addition to any corporation or group. EVE should never lose this precious way of balance, when 1 day noob can find his place in game universe. So the main problem here – T1 ships and modules should be usefull in fleets, even T1 frigates. We don’t want to ruin it, when you boost T2, faction, of introduce new T3 ships, if they are too powerfull, and make T1 ships completely useless, I feel that something wrong is going on. We almost had this mistake when there were a proposal to give the 4th bonus to assault ships, that’s not the way I will vote for.
There should be no useless items.
T1, meta 2,3,4, T2, faction, dedspace and officer stuff, lots of module types, lots of ship types. This piles of items were made for players to use in game, some of them are cheap, some are precious. They are balanced mostly, by their attributes and cost, the skills you need to use it ets, but there is a lot of trash, players will never use in the situation, when they can easily find better stuff with less requirements. This part is something I want to call CCP attention for. New expansions, nerf and boost of something had made a piles of items, that are not cost effective to use (and I don’t mean big dick, lol). Some of them are completely useless the way they are now. To give you few examples: 1) armor plates – we had speednerf ets, there is no modules to reduce the mass of the ship now, but plates still affect it, we have a situation when T2 armor plates are completely useless compared to meta4; 2) rigs – we had a great expansion, and rigs were split on 3 size groups, but some of them are just useless for the ships in this groups; 3) close t2 vs faction ammo – you know why; 4) COSMOS items – well, they are collectible items for sure, but most of them are useless collectible items; 5) faction stuff vs T2 and meta4 stuff – why there is a problem you may ask, but there is, as I see it. In the normal situation – the better module we have, the harder it to get it, the price is controlled by the market supply and demand. In case of faction stuff, price is dictated by the lp shop npc store, the only thing is affected by players is “the cost of the LP unit”. Therefore we have some cheap faction modules, much better than meta4/5 and cheaper on the one hand, and useless faction modules, costs too much compared to dedspace/meta4-5 modules on the other hand. There is no more holy random in this process, we take only what is good for our wallet, and have loads of useless items in LP shops. With a PLEX system we have, some of faction LP shops looks like – buy an extra GTC and win the EVE, than balanced sandbox game.
We can continue this list with a lot of modules and even some ships, nerfed too hard and not balanced after expansions we have. But if we will ignore this problems, we will face with a one big pile of trash one day, very hard to sort out.
So the role of CSM as I see it – is to show this useless items to CCP, and try to fix the situation, and balance them with the efficiency/price/requirements. On the other hand, I want to encourage CCP to pay attention to this useless modules and gather statistics of the modules and ships we use, the market price we have, and make some analysis of it all.
Each race need their own style.
Yes, the different styles of gameplay will make the game more interesting, but remember, “There should be no useless players”. And here is the problem with a racial game balance. I mean, the final stage of balance is fine. But in my opinion the first stage is missing. Guns should be balanced without any additional modules and ship bonuses before we go to the next stages. The balance of ship bonuses, slots, modules is a second or maybe 3rd stage. There is a lot of ships, that have some special not guns bonuses. If we have 1 race with unbalanced guns, everyone will have to train it first, just to have the flexibility with those ships, and the other races will be like secondary/specialization races. To check this just try to make a pew-pew fit for Navitas or Execuror, with no bonuses for any guns. What type of guns will you use, in case you can use any of them equally? Don’t tell me – I know the answer, and it makes me sad, there is no choice.
New features and old issue fixes priority.
New features is good, they save us from boredom, they sometimes bring us more subscribers and expand the borders of decisions we can make in game, but...
...but this is true, when they are complete, when they don’t ruin the base of game, when there is no bugs, that crash our PC.
I mean, sometimes I have a feeling, I’m playing beta or alpha version of the game for all this 6 years. Some bugs are known for years, and no visible attempt to fix them.
Yes, you will never get applauds for fixing them next expansion, you will always be blamed you released them instead. But that is not the reason to leave the game unfinished, you have to fix it sooner or later, so make it soon, before you lose one more player, dropped the game for the reason it is unfinished and full of bugs.
My priority is fixing the bugs first, making next step after, I want to play a finished and polished game.
Events and relationship in EVE.
EVE is more than a game – it is an environment for people to communicate with each other, making new friends, build relationships in game.
Game developers can control this relationships not directly, but by changing the game environment.
There is no definition, what type of relationships CCP want to build in game, we have guns, and suppose to shoot each other on the one hand, and we have to cooperate to make it more efficient on the other. But here is what makes me confused – we need a reason to fight for something, and with the last changes of sovereignty system, war is no more cost efficient. You have too much things you risk to lose – your infrastructure, your system upgrades, and you gain a shattered earth when you conquer it. So the environment in zero space supports big powerblocks, controlled by a dozen of landlords, and the only option new alliances can settle in zero space is to pay the rent to one of the landlords, and pray they will not burn them just for the reason they are bored. And they will do it, this system is too static and boring to satisfy the landlord army, there is no relationship progress.
So all we need – is some events and conflict drivers, to make our game fun, and to evolve our relationship in game. Small alliances need some kind of places, where they can resist the force of big blocks and profit, something they can grab and run away. There should be some points, where greed will drive big alliances to risk all infrastructure they have for a one piece of cake, no matter what course their powerblock follows, the war should be profitable for big and small groups. I don’t mean we have to force everyone to shoot eachother, but we need to spin the wheel, and don’t let it stop.
We had achieved much in CSM 4, and I expect to see the results soon, but I’m not going to stop on that, and I need your votes to make it to the 5th CSM.
